Our organisation

Jabani Jinna Indigenous Corporation (JJIC) formed in May 2019, with the below objectives as the guide for what the organisation would like to achieve. As a young organisation, the Directors and members are working towards fulfilling them.

JJIC is a community controlled organisation that works with and for community towards safety, inclusion and harmony.  JJIC works with all people towards feeling connected and having equal access to daily and long term needs.   JJIC welcomes working relationships with other community organisations towards common goals and community development.  

JJIC is committed to providing a child safe environment and practices to meet the child safe standards as per the Child Safe Organisation Act 2024

JJIC follows the child safe standards applying to an entity.

Our History & our future:

The objectives of the corporation are to assist with providing relief for First Nation's children, young people and families and the development of community infrastructure focusing on those in the community that are at risk, isolated, in crisis, improvised or disadvantaged socially, physically, emotionally or culturally. JJIC supports cultural connection and mentoring for First Nation's children, young people and families.

Organisations Objectives:

The corporation aims to:

  • Provide quality services and programs;

  • Increase the capacity of individuals and community to respond effectively to its current and emerging needs;

  • Enhance the value of existing community, formal and informal networks;

  • Work collaboratively with other Indigenous organisations to increase skills, knowledge and capacity;

  • To provide opportunities for children and young people to participate in activities and events of Jabani Jinna Indigenous Corporation;

  • To provide a voice for unheard members of the Indigenous community.

Services

Services

JJIC provides a range of services including Cultural Mentoring, Certificates of Aboriginality,  Charity Op Shop with proceeds to support needs in the community that cannot be met elsewhere and general support to find the right services to meet individual, family and community needs.

Funded programs include the Extended Post Care Support program for young people that are turning 18 years of age and transitioning from care into independence.  Please see below and contact for more information.

Charity Op Shop

The JJIC/KYC Charity Op Shop provides clothing, bric-a-brac, linen, books, kitchen items and most home needs.  The Op Shop does not have furniture due to our size.  Items starting at 50c with items being free for those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence or poverty. 

 

We welcome donations and volunteers as part of the team.

Extended Post Care Support Service (1).png

Extended Post Care Support 

JJIC is proud to deliver the Extended Post Care Support (EPCS) program in the Moreton Bay region walking along side young people transitioning from care into adulthood.

​

This initiative is funded by the Department of Families, Seniors, Disability Services and Child Safety in support of young people transitioning from care.
